It seems like the past few years wildlife has stormed the interior design world. From animal prints to owls to antlers, you can’t escape the wildlife inspired trends. Currently, everyone, myself included, seems to be infatuated with Peacocks. For me peacock inspired decoration started in Palos Verdes, CA where I grew up. The peacocks living in the hills multiplied to the point that they just wandered the streets. I remember hearing them thumping on our roof and letting out their unforgettable roar waking us up on Saturday mornings. The best part as pre-teen girls were the feathers we collected for decorating our bedrooms with and incorporating into our macramé hangings (I’m dating myself here!).

Ready for a pop of peacock? I personally love Dwell Studio’s Vintage Plume wallpaper and fabric, or Trina Turk’s Peacock Pool fabric. Company C is one of my favorite resources for vibrantly colorful area rugs and I am obsessed with their Deco Peacock Rug.
Even if you aren’t crazy about Peacocks their iridescent colors provide the perfect inspiration for the current jewel tone color trend: deep dark blue, sapphire and emerald green. Looking for more emerald green inspiration? You might find some in my ‘Colors to Crave’ post. Enjoy!
