We typically don’t play favorites when it comes to design projects, but it’s hard not to when the project’s purpose is about more than just beautifying a space. We recently partnered with the team at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington to help complete an important project – renovate and redecorate the guestrooms of one of their Portland houses.
Ronald McDonald House Charities provide a “home away from home” for families with seriously ill children and we are proud to be chosen as the local chapter’s window treatment provider on this important project.
Each room originally featured mini blinds, which were replaced by Hunter Douglas Nantucket™ window shadings. The renovation design team wanted a style that would help soften the room, so our local Portland-based Decorview designer recommended Nantucket™, a stylish shade that features beautiful fabric vanes suspended between sheer facings. When drawn, shades softly filter light and provide privacy.
Child-safety was also an important consideration for the design project. To keep operating cords out of reach from small children, each shade was equipped with the UltraGlide® retractable cord system. A constant cord length means there are never any long, dangling cords to detract from the appearance of the shade or fall into the hands of small children.
